The White House playset, Marx, circa 1953-67. This is a playset of the White House, with pieces molded in white plastic. We are not sure on the date of production, but the small yellow manual lists Eisenhower as still in office in '53. The playset has all pieces to build the White House except for one of the two part #6 ballistrade pieces. That piece is about 3.75" long and goes on the portice ceiling square piece (left piece is gone). Also the 8 presidents pieces are missing.
In addition, it contains the assembly instruction sheet, another 4 page sheet with White House facts, plus details on how Marx sold different forms of these White House playsets. Also included is a fascinating 54 page book called "The Presidents and Their Wives", from Wahsington to Eisenhower, which shows photographs and highlights of each president's lifetime accomplishments, famous quotes, etc. It's a very nice historical reference manual to keep the memory of our former presidents alive...wish I had had a copy when I was a kid! The original owners name is written on top of 3 of the instruction sheets and books. Finally there are two Amercan Presidents Albums, one of which is dated 1967, which also have pics and shorter descriptions of each president, through Lyndon Johnson.
Box top has no split corners but has wear and discoloration as shown. Box bottom has one split corner.
